Buffalo, NY - Buffalo Mayor Christopher P. Scanlon, in partnership with the Buffalo Police Department's Foot Patrol Integration Unit and FeedMore WNY, announced today that the Food Donation Drive held on Saturday, November 8, 2025, collected a total of 6,724 pounds of food to help fight hunger across Western New York.
Residents across the City of Buffalo came together to drop off non-perishable food items at two collection sites - North Park Community School and the Peter J. Crotty Casino at Cazenovia Park. Donations included cereal, pasta, peanut butter, rice, canned goods, and baby supplies. The initiative was coordinated by the Mayor's Office and the Buffalo Police Department's Foot Patrol Integration Unit in response to ongoing food insecurity and increased need across the region.
According to FeedMore WNY, the donations gathered through this community-wide effort will provide more than 5,600 meals for neighbors in need throughout the City of Buffalo.
"Buffalo is a city that shows up for one another," said Mayor Christopher P. Scanlon. "The incredible turnout and generosity we saw this weekend will help ensure thousands of families have food on their tables. I want to thank Buffalo Police Commissioner Alphonso Wright, Deputy Commissioners Patrick Overdorf and Joseph Fahey, our Foot Patrol Integration Unit, and the men and women of the Buffalo Police Department for their hard work in making this effort a success. I'm also grateful to our incredible partners at FeedMore WNY and to the people of Buffalo whose generosity continues to shine through. This city's compassion and commitment to helping one another is what makes Buffalo truly special."
"FeedMore WNY is incredibly grateful for the support of Buffalo Mayor Christopher Scanlon, the Buffalo Police Department Foot Patrol Integration Unit and everyone who came together to support and donate to make this drive so successful. These donations will be quickly sorted and distributed to our partner food pantries working tirelessly to serve our community members experiencing food insecurity," Catherine Shick, Public Relations Manager for FeedMore WNY said. "Community support makes FeedMore WNY's mission possible. "We're deeply grateful to the residents whose generosity made this food drive a success and showed once again what Buffalo is all about."
The collected food was delivered this morning to FeedMore WNY's headquarters at 91 Holt Street, where it will be sorted and distributed to local food pantries and meal programs.
