MEMPHIS, TN-Following a roundtable on Monday, U.S. Representative John Rose (TN-06) congratulated members of the Memphis Safe Task Force on their progress as they continue working to curb crime in the City of Memphis.
The event, hosted by the White House, touted
crime metrics that have improved significantly over the last six months, a direct result of federal support deployed by President Trump. Those metrics included a
43% drop in overall crime, a
35% drop in homicide, and a
32% drop in burglary.
Rep. Rose released the following statement:
"Countless families in Memphis and Shelby County are safer tonight thanks to President Trump's decisive action," Rep. Rose said. "After 30 years of pro-crime policies and weak prosecutors, the tide is finally turning in the Bluff City. All Tennesseans, regardless of what part of the state they call home or their political beliefs, should be proud of the work of the Memphis Safe Task Force."
Rep. Rose, a proud eighth-generation Tennessean, has been an outspoken supporter of the Memphis Safe Task Force since it was formed by presidential memoranda last September.
