UPDATE: Overnight One Lane Closures at Appian Way Overcrossing Continues and Weekend Closure Delayed

Contra Costa County - Caltrans has revised its schedule for ongoing construction work at the Appian Way and Cummings Skyway overcrossings above Interstate 80 (I-80) in Contra Costa County. The updated schedule includes planned temporary lane and ramp closures during daytime, nighttime, and weekends.

Closure Schedule & Details

Appian Way Overcrossing Overnight One Lane Closed (Southbound):

  • Dates: June 29 - July 3, 2026 & July 6 -July 10, 2026
  • Time: 7:00 PM - 5:00 AM (nightly)
  • Work: Asbestos removal
  • Impact: One lane closed on southbound Appian Way overcrossing near I-80.

Appian Way Overcrossing Extended Weekend One Lane Closure (Southbound):

  • Dates: Friday, July 10 - Monday July 13, 2026
  • Time: 7:00 PM (Friday) - 7:00 AM (Monday)
  • Work: Approach slab reconstruction
  • Impact: Continuous one lane closed on southbound Appian Way overcrossing near I 80.

Additional Information

  • No mainline lane closures on I-80 or Cummings Skyway Overcrossing closures are planned until after the July 4th holiday weekend
  • All work is weather-dependent and subject to change
