The Escambia County Department of Animal Welfare is excited to partner with the BISSELL Pet Foundation for the 10th anniversary of its "Empty the Shelters" adoption event, offering free adoptions for dogs and cats one year or older beginning Friday, May 1 until Sunday, May 17.
Escambia County Animal Welfare encourages the community to visit the shelter and consider giving a forever home to one of the many loving pets available for adoption.
A $15 licensing fee will be applied to all adoptions for Escambia County residents. To see a full list of adoptable pets in Escambia County, visit 24petconnect.com.
The adoption fee for pets younger than one year old will be $50 for puppies and $25 for kittens.
BISSELL Pet Foundation will also sponsor free pet adoptions during Animal Welfare's "Petpalooza" adoption event on Saturday, May 16 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Animal Welfare and Adoption Center, located at 200 W. Fairfield Drive.
"Empty the Shelters" is the nation's largest funded adoption event and has helped nearly 400,000 pets find homes across the U.S. and Canada since its inception in 2016. Sponsored by BISSELL Pet Foundation, the program works with hundreds of animal welfare organizations to reduce adoption fees and make pet adoption accessible to more families.
The Escambia County Animal Welfare and Adoption Center is located at 200 W. Fairfield Drive. Hours of operation are Monday-Friday, noon to 5 p.m., and Saturday and Sunday from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. For more information, visit MyEscambia.com/animal-welfare.
