It's that time of year. Birds are chirping. Baseball has started. Cherry blossoms have bloomed, and their pedals have fallen. And for George Washington University students, that means final exams and projects are here or arriving soon. The Division for Student Affairs has compiled a list of resources for students to utilize during this time, which includes academic and counseling services, mindfulness exercises and more ways to support wellbeing through finals.
Open to all GW students, the Final Lap is designed to support student well-being prior to and during final exams. This semester's Final Lap runs Monday, April 27 through Friday, May 8. Highlights include:
Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS) offers counseling consultations, appointments, workshops and group counseling. Students can schedule a CAPS consultation on the Student Health Portal. Students in crisis or concerned about another student in crisis can call 202-994-5300 (option 3) 24-hours a day, seven days a week to speak with a counselor.
GW also partners with TimelyCare, a leading virtual telehealth provider, to help students access free medical and counseling services anytime-during the day, at night or on the weekend. Download the TimelyCare mobile app to your Android or Apple phone or visit via GW's TimelyCare portal on your desktop. Whether you're feeling under the weather, anxious or overwhelmed, you can talk to a licensed provider to get the care you need via phone or secure video visits at no cost.
Students can utilize the following to help with end of the semester to-do lists such as writing papers, catching up on unread assignments, finishing final projects and studying for exams:
Disability Support Services (DSS). Students who need to request accommodations can visit DSS, which works collaboratively with the GW community to foster a climate of universal academic excellence while promoting disability culture.
