2026 NASPA Student Affairs Law and Policy Program Participant Selection

Viviane Ackall, director of the LCI-Student Accessibility Centerwithin the North Carolina Central University(NCCU) Division of Student Affairs(DSA) has been selected to participate in the 2026 National Association of Student Personnel Administrators(NASPA) Certificate in Student Affairs Law and Policy program.

The program equips participants with advanced knowledge of legal frameworks, policy development and risk management strategies that directly inform institutional decision-making and compliance. This professional development experience is designed for senior and mid-level student affairs professionals. The program takes place June 8-12, 2026, in Clearwater Beach, Fla.

As director of the LCI-Student Accessibility Center, Ackall leads a team of professionals dedicated to removing physical, academic and programmatic barriers to education. Serving as a campus-wide consultant, she works closely with faculty, staff and administrators to ensure the University's compliance with federal mandates, including the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), the Americans with Disabilities Amendments Act and Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act.

In addition to overseeing disability-related compliance, Ackall coordinates the department's accessibility initiatives aligned with unit and institutional goals in collaboration with the executive director for Student Access & Success and DSA Executive Leadership, leads campus outreach and education efforts and provides ongoing training to the university community on disability-related issues. Her work ensures that accessibility is embedded across the student experience, from academics to residential life.

Ackall also collaborates with campus partners, including Residential Life, Facilities Services, Campus Safety, Campus Police, the Student Health Center, the Counseling Center and Academic Affairs to support the accessibility of the entire campus community for students, faculty, staff and visitors.

Selection for the NASPA Certificate in Student Affairs Law and Policy program affirms Ackall's expertise, leadership and impact in the field of student accessibility and higher education administration. Her participation in the program will further enhance NCCU's capacity to advance accessibility practices, mitigate institutional risk and uphold its responsibility to provide equitable access for all members of the Eagle community.
