WASHINGTON, DC - With the 2026 FIFA World Cup kicking off today, and with seven matches scheduled to take place in New England at Gillette Stadium (which FIFA has branded 'Boston Stadium' during the World Cup) in Foxborough, Massachusetts, U.S. Senator Jack Reed says Rhode Island veterans, first responders, and military families can sign up for a chance to receive free tickets to World Cup matches.
"I appreciate this effort to provide free tickets for our troops and make it possible for veterans, first responders, and their families to experience the excitement of this year's World Cup in person. I hope they will select as many deserving Rhode Islanders as possible," said Senator Reed.
The FIFA World Cup tournament features 48 national teams playing a total of 104 matches across Canada, Mexico and the United States, who are co-hosting this year's tournament. Seven of those games will take place at 'Boston Stadium,' including five group-stage matches, a round of 32 elimination game, and a quarter-final match up.
To be eligible for the free tickets, honorably discharged veterans and currently serving military members can sign up for an account at vettix.org.
Current and retired first responders - including law enforcement, fire, EMS, registered nurses, and 911 dispatchers - can register at 1sttix.org.
Both platforms are free to sign up. Eligibility for both programs is securely verified through ID.me.
Once the FIFA World Cup 2026 tickets are available, Vet Tix and 1st Tix members will receive an email alert to secure free tickets to a match in their area.
Teams currently scheduled to play at 'Boston Stadium' include: Scotland, Norway, Morocco, Haiti, Iraq, France, England, and Ghana.
Four more teams could be added to that list depending on the knockout stage.
Ghana's national team has made Rhode Island their home base and will practice at Bryant University in Smithfield while staying in downtown Providence.
Fans staying in Rhode Island can check out the PVD FanZone throughout the tournament - June 11 to July 19 - at Station Park.
