Community Input Sought for Small World Park Improvements

The City of Pittsburg is inviting residents to share their ideas for the future of Small World Park as part of an application for state grant funding.

Staff introduced the effort at a booth during Tuesday's National Night Out event, where they spoke with residents about upcoming plans for the park and collected initial feedback. The department is now opening that conversation to the wider community through an online survey.

The department is preparing to apply for funding through the Statewide Park Development and Community Revitalization Program (SPP), a competitive grant administered by the California Department of Parks and Recreation. If awarded, the grant could fund significant improvements to Small World Park.

Community input is not just encouraged - it's a required part of the SPP application process. The state evaluates applications in part on how directly residents were involved in shaping a project's design, so resident feedback will play a meaningful role in what the department proposes.
