ST. LOUIS -People who live, work, travel or visit Route 30 (Gravois Avenue) in the city of St. Louis are invited to share their thoughts about some of the proposed changes to the corridor in an upcoming public meeting.
The meeting is June 10, from 4-7 p.m. at Das Bevo (the windmill), 4749 Gravois Avenue, St. Louis, MO, 63116. There is no formal presentation, so attendees are welcome to attend any time.
Gravois Avenue is a 5.7-mile corridor through the city of St. Louis that serves many neighborhoods and users. This planning study examines roadway conditions, traffic patterns, and crash history and what safety and mobility improvements could be incorporated to address these and other community needs.
MoDOT and the City of St. Louis have begun the design work on Gravois and need to hear feedback on some initial choices. The public meeting will present initial thoughts for where vehicle lanes could be reduced and how to simplify many of the five- and six- intersections (where at least three roadways intersect). Both of these efforts aim to improve safety for all users while maintaining vehicular flow. Feedback at this time from residents, businesses, and people who travel along Gravois will help shape the project and drive many of the decisions made in developing the plans for the corridor. Construction for this future pavement resurfacing and safety project is scheduled for 2029.
"As MoDOT plans for repaving work, we want to make sure to understand the vision and goals of Gravois Avenue users and enhance safety for all," said Jen Wade, MoDOT area engineer in the city of St. Louis. "This project opens a window to look in-depth at Gravois and consider a wider range of options. We encourage people on Gravois to remain involved as we continue this study to ensure that plans improve safety for the people who live, work, and play here while also continuing to serve their transportation needs. We also encourage business owners to participate in this meeting, as decisions made as a part of this study could change how people access businesses, schools, organizations and neighborhoods along the corridor."
The meeting is open to the public, and all are encouraged to attend. Project updates and information about future meetings will be shared as the study progresses.
People who require reasonable accommodation to fully participate in this event can contact Andrew Gates before Friday, June 5 at [email protected] or call or text 314-223-8003.
For those who are unable to attend the meeting in person, the information shared during the meeting as well as a comment form will be available at Missouri Route 30 (Gravois) Pavement Resurfacing and Safety Improvements in St. Louis City | Missouri Department of Transportation beginning on the day of the meeting. People are welcome to view the information and provide comments about the project until Wednesday, June 24.
