The Connecticut Department of Transportation (CTDOT) will conduct an open house meeting concerning pedestrian improvements at multiple highways on- and off-ramps in East Hartford on Tuesday, April 21, 2026, at 6:00 p.m., at the East Hartford Town Hall located on 740 Main St. The meeting location is ADA accessible.
The open house is being held to provide the public and local community with the opportunity toview project-related materials and discuss any questions with the project team.For instructions on ways to provide comments and ask questions, please visit portal.ct.gov/DOTEastHartford0042-0332. This project is a breakout project of the Greater Hartford Mobility Program.
"This Greater Hartford Mobility Program early action project provides critical pedestrian infrastructure,
increasing safety for vulnerable users at strategic locations," said Connecticut Department of Transportation Project Engineer Katherine Yale. "We encourage the public to attend this meeting to share their feedback with the CTDOT project team to incorporate into the design."
Right-of-way impacts associated with the proposed improvements includes minor acquisitions, temporary construction easements, a defined traffic easement for traffic signal equipment, and rights to grade and construct driveways.
Construction is anticipated to begin spring 2028 based on the availability of funding and acquisition of rights of way. The estimated construction cost for this project is approximately $3 million. This project is anticipated to be undertaken with 80% federal funds and 20% state funds.
