Food Assistance Programs and Local Resources

If you or someone you know is having trouble getting enough food right now, help is available.

Many families rely on food programs for support, and local and county partners are working together to make sure no one goes hungry during the temporary suspension of CalFresh and federal benefits.

You can find more information and resources below, including links to County food programs and local food distributions. Please call ahead to confirm hours and availability.

  • Sunnyvale Community Services: Sunnyvale Community Services provides emergency assistance, information/referral services, and food programs to families, individuals, and seniors living in Sunnyvale. You can also make donations here.
  • Our Daily Bread Lunch Program: This program provides hot meals three days a week. For more information, call 408-736-4155.
  • Second Harvest of Silicon Valley: Find a food distribution point using the interactive online map, or call the Food Connection team at 800-984-3663.
  • Santa Clara County Senior Nutrition Program: This program offers nutritious meals to older adults 60 years of age or older at over 35 meal sites in Santa Clara County. Find a nearby site by using their interactive online map, or call 408-755-7680.
  • Loaves & Fishes Family Kitchen: Find their Community Meals program, A La Carte Food Recovery program, and New Food program for prepared meals. For more information, call 408-922-9085.
  • Catholic Charities of Santa Clara County: Receive free groceries, ready-to-eat meals and other food resources. You can also make donations here. For more information, call 408-468-0100.
  • Sacred Heart Community Services: This program offers access to healthy, affordable food through a supply of groceries and an assortment of food that doesn't require cooking. For more information, call 408-278-2160.
  • Ecumenical Hunger Program: EHP offers food distribution, a hot lunch program, groceries and more. For more information, call 650-323-7781.
  • 2-1-1 Bay Area: 24/7 referrals to local food, housing and emergency assistance programs.
  • DoorDash Emergency Food Response Program: This program will provide 1 million meals through partner food banks and waive the fees for 300,000 grocery orders by SNAP recipients. DoorDash users who have their SNAP card on their DoorDash profile can have the delivery fees waived for one order.

Donations can also be made to organizations like Meals on Wheels, Feeding America, and U.S. Hunger.
