As China steps up its domestic consumption upgrading and keeps increasing imports, future prospects for China-Iceland cooperation will continue to be broadened. At the end of last year, the Hainan Free Trade Port was officially launched with an island-wide independent customs operation, offering more opportunities the wider world, Iceland included.
Mr. Þorsteinsson accompanied Ambassador He on a tour of the company's China-built container ship, speaking highly of its design and performance. He said Eimskip attaches great importance to the Chinese market and will continue to facilitate cargo trade and economic cooperation between China and Iceland with higher-quality, greener shipping capacity.
