Nomination papers will be available from the City Clerk during the official nomination period, which commences on Monday, July 13, and closes on Friday, August 7. Should an incumbent choose not to file for re-election, the nomination period will be extended until Wednesday, August 12, for that seat only to allow additional time for voters to nominate candidates other than the incumbent.
In order to be eligible to hold office as Mayor, an individual must be a registered voter, resident of Simi Valley, and otherwise qualified to vote for that office at the time that the nomination papers are issued to that person. The position of Mayor is elected Citywide, and interested parties may reside in any of the four districts. In order to be eligible to hold office as City Council Member for District 1, District 2, or District 4, an individual must reside in the eligible district and be a registered voter of that district.
The City Clerk's office hours are Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. and 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. Persons interested in running for either Mayor or City Council are encouraged to schedule an appointment to receive information and the nomination papers by calling the City Clerk's Office at (805) 583-6813.
