Linn County Public Health Releases Annual Report for Fiscal Year 2025

LINN COUNTY, Iowa - The Linn County Board of Health, the Linn County Board of Supervisors, and Linn County Public Health staff have jointly released the Fiscal Year 2025 Annual Report.

"The work of Linn County Public Health is varied-we protect the food Linn County residents eat, the air they breathe, and the water they drink. We manage infectious diseases on the scale of entire populations, and we look for ways to improve health outcomes in the future," said Dr. Pramod Dwivedi, Linn County Public Health Director. "This report is a detailed review of what our work has looked like over the past fiscal year. We are proud of our many accomplishments and honored to serve our neighbors in Linn County."

Some highlights from the Fiscal Year 2025 Annual Report include:

  • The Clinical Services branch implemented the Vaccines for Adults (VFA) Program. The Iowa VFA Program offers no-cost vaccines to eligible adults through a network of providers across the state.
  • The Assessment and Health Promotion branch completed the Community Health Assessment (CHA) and the 2025-2027 Community Health Improvement Plan (CHIP). The CHIP is completed every three years to identify top health issues in the community as well as strategies to address them.
  • The Air Quality branch completed 100 facility inspections and investigated 23 citizen complaints.
  • The Laboratory performed 919 clinical tests (HIV, syphilis, urinalysis, etc.), and 4,060 environmental tests (coliform bacteria, nitrates, etc.) Additionally, 221 water samples were tested for arsenic, and 242 water samples were tested for manganese.
  • The Water Quality section of the Environmental Quality branch used more than $95,000 in funding from the Iowa Private Well Grants Program to help people test and improve private water wells.
  • The Food, Aquatic Safety, Tattoo & Tanning (FASTT) section of the Environmental Quality branch conducted more than 1,100 food inspections throughout Linn and Jones counties. This team also conducted more than 90 pool inspections.
  • The Healthy Homes branch implemented new policies which enabled the team to better promote lead hazard control.
  • LCPH and Linn County Emergency Management conducted an emergency preparedness exercise involving more than 30 other organizations throughout the county.
  • The Office of Community Health launched a research project to evaluate resources and attitudes that affect mental health.
