Last Call for Your Seasonal Can

October 27th, 2026

Last Call for Your Seasonal Can

Your seasonal can gets picked up one last time this year during the week of November 23. Set it out on your regular pickup day that week. After that, it's on break until spring. (Remember the Seasonal Can runs the first full week of April through the last full week of November.)

Thanksgiving week: Pickups run one day late on Thursday and Friday. If your pickup day is Thursday, set your can out Friday. If it's Friday, set it out Saturday.

When does it come back?

Seasonal can pickup restarts April 1, 2027.

What should I do with it over the winter?

Keep it at home until April, or turn it in if you'd like to end the service. (more on that below).

Also coming up

On October 27, the West Jordan City Council approved a few changes to garbage service.

Your bill will show two lines starting December 1

Your price isn't changing. If you have all three cans, you'll still pay $24.72 a month. Your bill will just show it as two lines:

  • $20 for your basic service cans (garbage and recycling)
  • $4.72 for your seasonal can

Keep your seasonal can or turn it in

You can turn in your seasonal can starting December 1, 2026, or keep it. Seasonal can pickup restarts April 1. Starting July 1, 2027, all cans will be picked up weekly, year-round. If you'd rather not keep your seasonal can, you can opt out at any time.

If you use your seasonal can in the spring, keep it, and nothing changes for you. If you never use it, turn it in and pay $20 a month.

The City will release more information on how to return your can as the December 1, 2026 date gets closer.
