DGA Statement on President Trump's Attack on Gov. Walz

Democratic Governors Association Chair Governor Andy Beshear and Vice Chair Governor Gretchen Whitmer released the following statement on Donald Trump sharing false claims suggesting Governor Tim Walz was behind the assassination of former Minnesota House Speaker Melissa Hortman last summer:

"We condemn, in the strongest possible terms, President Trump's spreading of dangerous and hateful lies about our friend and colleague Governor Tim Walz. As leaders, it is our responsibility to bring people together and keep our communities safe from threats, including the threat of political violence - not fan the flames of division by pushing baseless conspiracy theories, or further target a family already grieving an unimaginable loss.

"We stand with Governor Walz and we urge our colleagues, regardless of party, to join us in speaking out against this disgusting attack that only makes Americans less safe."
