NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ (August 28, 2026) - New Brunswick is bustling once again as thousands of Rutgers University students return to the banks of the Raritan River for the upcoming school year.
Mayor Jim Cahill and Rutgers University-New Brunswick Chancellor Francine Conway joined the community on the College Avenue Campus to greet incoming students and families participating in the annual Move-In Day tradition.
Through Aug. 31, students will unpack mini-fridges, textbooks, and laptops as they settle into residence halls and apartments across the City.
According to preliminary university data, 49,035 undergraduate and graduate students are expected on the New Brunswick campus this fall, including 8,075 first-year students and 2,330 transfer students.
