GOP Gov Candidate-Backed Government Shutdown Leads to "Massive ACA Price Hikes" for Georgians
New reporting from the Atlanta Journal-Constitution details how Georgians face "massive ACA price hikes" thanks to D.C. Republicans' cost-raising economic agenda that GOP gubernatorial candidates Burt Jones, Chris Carr, and Brad Raffensperger all support.
As the Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports, "premium prices are quadrupling or more as … deductibles will also soar," with older Georgians and working families hit the hardest. 460,000 Georgians will lose their health care because D.C. Republicans refused to work across the aisle to lower health care costs.
Jones and Carr have both come out in support of D.C. Republicans' move to shut down the government instead of addressing skyrocketing health care costs, while Raffensperger has tied himself directly to Donald Trump's dangerous budget law that originally included this health care price spike - which Jones and Carr also backed. All three candidates also have records of opposing Medicaid expansion and backing Georgia's Pathways program, which a new report from the U.S. Government Accountability Office revealed has wasted taxpayer money on administrative costs rather than actually providing health care to working Georgians.
Trump's budget law has already closed one maternal health care unit in the state, threatens to rip health care away from hundreds of thousands of Georgians, and raises health care costs for 1.4 million Georgians.
"Burt Jones, Chris Carr, and Brad Raffensperger would rather pledge their allegiance to Donald Trump and cheer on his disastrous economic agenda as Georgia families lose their health care and face skyrocketing premiums," said DGA spokesperson Kevin Donohoe.
