LAUNCHING CEREMONY OF THE LOGO AND THEME OF

ASEAN-MALAYSIA CHAIRMANSHIP 2025

Today, Minister of Foreign Affairs Dato' Seri Utama Haji Mohamad bin Haji Hasan launched the logo and theme for ASEAN-Malaysia Chairmanship 2025 at Tunku Abdul Rahman Hall, Wisma Putra.

The Launching Ceremony was attended by Minister of Investment, Trade and Industry Tengku Datuk Seri Utama Zafrul Tengku Abdul Aziz, (Coordinating Minister for ASEAN Economic Pillar); Minister of Tourism, Arts and Culture Dato' Sri Tiong King Sing (Coordinating Minister for ASEAN Socio-Cultural Pillar) and Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Datuk Mohamad Alamin. Also in attendance were Senior Government Officials, Foreign Heads of Mission to Malaysia and representatives of International Organisations as well as media representatives.

The logo and theme, "Inclusivity and Sustainability," were officially unveiled by Prime Minister Dato' Seri Anwar Ibrahim during the Closing Ceremony of the 44th and 45th ASEAN Summits and Related Summits on 11 October 2024 in Vientiane, Lao PDR, where Malaysia accepted the Chairmanship from Lao PDR. Malaysia will officially assume the Chair of ASEAN on 1 January 2025.

In his keynote address, the Foreign Minister stated that Malaysia is honoured to assume the chairmanship of ASEAN in 2025. As Chair, Malaysia commits to steering the Association forward in strengthening regional peace, stability and prosperity. Malaysia will aim to fortify ASEAN centrality, promote strategic trust among nations through sustained dialogues, diplomacy and goodwill, continue to push for greater commitment to enhance ASEAN intra-trade and investment, and ensure that the elements of inclusivity and sustainability take centre stage in regional community-building efforts.

The Foreign Minister also underscored that 2025 is a momentous year for ASEAN as it celebrates the 10th anniversary of the formal establishment of the ASEAN Community. He also emphasised that 2025 marks another milestone in regional community building with the adoption of the ASEAN Community Vision 2045, which will chart the strategic direction of ASEAN in the years to come. He called for the continued support and cooperation from all ASEAN Member States and external partners.

During the ceremony, the guests were also introduced to the official ASEAN Chairmanship 2025 logo, designed by Mr. Muhamad Khalis Syafiq, winner of the ASEAN logo competition held earlier this year. The ceremony concluded with the video montage of ASEAN-Malaysia Chairmanship 2025, which can be accessed at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs website at www.kln.gov.my.
