Working Group established for drafting amendments to the Law on Free Zones

It is my pleasure to announce the formation of a Working Group tasked with drafting the Draft Law on Amendments to the Law on Free Zones.

As we have done thus far, we will approach this task with dedication, precision, and a clear goal of enhancing the legislative framework for free zones, aligning it with the most advanced European and Western standards. The drafting process will soon commence.

In the spirit of inclusiveness, comprehensiveness, partnership, and transparency, the Working Group will include representatives of both state institutions and the non-governmental sector. This process has been strongly supported by our international allies, and I would like to particularly highlight the expert assistance provided by the British Embassy.

The amendments to the Law on Free Zones aim to create a favorable environment for attracting investments that will strengthen the competitiveness of our economy while fostering economic growth and prosperity. I would especially like to emphasize that the new legal framework will ensure that the Free Zone of the Port of Bar, which for years was misused for cigarette smuggling and other illegal activities, will henceforth serve solely as a hub for economic and business development.
