Learn about updates to the Anti-Displacement Plan

Published on May 04, 2026

The cost of housing in Menlo Park has been steadily increasing in the past years. This has led to residents having to move out or be displaced, from their homes. Many community members have had this experience or know someone who has been displaced, leading to disrupted lives and neighborhoods.

During the Housing and Environmental Justice Element community meetings, it was clear the community wanted a plan to address displacement in Menlo Park. Community members provided a number of strategies to address the issue which are included in the Anti-displacement Plan. The plan describes and analyzes each strategy, prioritizing strategies to implement based on various factors including the strategy's community benefit, public feedback and potential cost.

The Housing Commission will be reviewing the Plan and making a recommendation to the City Council at its May 6 meeting at 6:30 p.m. Please note that the meeting will be held at the Belle Haven Community Campus.

The recommendation will be considered by the City Council as the Council reviews the Plan. The City Council review is tentatively scheduled to review the Plan on May 19.
