SIUE's Education Doctorate Program Selected for Carnegie Project

Southern Illinois University Edwardsville is one of eighteen universities selected for the Carnegie Project on the Education Doctorate (CPED). The growing consortium of more than 165 colleges and universities is committed to advancing doctoral education for professional practice, according to CPED. SIUE's EdD program is specifically highlighted as qualifying the University for the esteemed member organization.

"We are honored to be included amongst these prestigious institutions who are seeking to improve doctoral education. Over the next three years, we are partnering with CPED to redesign our EdD program," said J.T. Snipes, PhD, associate professor and chair of the Department of Educational Leadership. "My goal is to create a program that is even more impactful and continues to meet the needs of educational leadership during difficult times."

SIUE takes its place in CPED's international community dedicated to preparing scholarly practitioners to address persistent problems of practice and improve the organizations and communities they serve. Together, CPED members continue to shape the future of the Education Doctorate (EdD) and strengthen its capacity to prepare leaders who generate knowledge in practice and improve systems for the public good.

"Welcoming these 18 new institutions marks an exciting moment for CPED," said Dr. Jill A. Perry, Executive Director of CPED. "Each brings a distinct voice and shared commitment to preparing transformational leaders who can navigate complexity, exercise leadership responsibly, and create meaningful change in education and other human-serving organizations. Together, we are advancing doctoral education that develops scholarly practitioners equipped to address persistent problems of practice through disciplined inquiry and informed action."

Other newly added member institutions include Antioch University, Ball State University, University of California, Los Angeles, University of Michigan-Dearborn and University of Texas at San Antonio.
