MEMPHIS, Tenn. - The National Cotton Council (NCC), leading a broad, bipartisan coalition including many of the nation's leading retailers, sent a letter to the U.S. House of Representatives, urging Members to co-sponsor the Buying American Cotton Act (BACA) H.R. 7230, which has been introduced by Representatives Greg Murphy (R-NC) and Terri Sewell (D-AL).

"The strong list of signers on this letter reflects a true, bipartisan effort to enhance U.S. cotton consumption here in the U.S.," stated Nathan Reed, Chairman of the NCC. "BACA will help stimulate demand for U.S. cotton, support our farmers, encourage new investment in U.S. textile mills, and create jobs here at home."

The letter also highlights the opportunity to harness consumer purchasing power and strengthen the entire American cotton supply chain from farm to retail. NCC urges Members of Congress to cosponsor BACA and stand with the producers, manufacturers, retailers, and the local communities they support.
