HYDE-SMITH HONORS AMERICAN SERVICEMEMBERS ON VETERANS DAY 2025
VIDEO: Senator Hyde-Smith Pays Tribute to Veterans and Their Families.
WASHINGTON, D.C. - U.S. Senator Cindy Hyde-Smith (R-Miss.) today issued a statement in commemoration of Veterans Day, paying tribute to the service and sacrifice of America's veterans and their families while urging Mississippians to continue showing their support year-round:
"We commemorate Veterans Day to honor the profound sacrifices made by the brave men and women who served to defend our nation. Their courage, strength, and unwavering commitment, along with the sacrifices made by their families, are the foundation of the freedoms we cherish as Americans.
"Here in Mississippi, our veterans and their families have made extraordinary contributions to protect our national interests both at home and abroad. According to the most recent census, more than 140,000 veterans call Mississippi home - a powerful reminder of the deep well of patriotism and service that runs through our state.
"And we, as Americans, bear the duty to ensure our veterans receive the care, respect, and support they deserve. As a grateful nation, we must continue to remember, honor, and actively support our veterans. Not just today, every day."
Hyde-Smith also called on Mississippians to take part in National Warrior Call Day on Sunday, November 16, 2025, a national effort to reach out to veterans and servicemembers to strengthen connections and help reduce the mental health challenges many face after serving our nation. Hyde-Smith is an original cosponsor of the National Warrior Call Day Resolution (S.Res.392), which the Senate passed in September.
"It's a powerful opportunity to reach out to a veteran or servicemember, to check in, to listen, and to remind them they are not alone and will never be forgotten, because freedom is never free," Hyde-Smith said.
Finally, Hyde-Smith is an original cosponsor of the Senate resolution (S.Res.482) that designated the week of Nov. 3-7, 2025, as "National Veterans Small Business Week." The measure highlights the important role veteran-owned businesses play in contributing to the economy and strengthening communities throughout the nation.
