Amendments to the Rules Governing Admission to the Bar of Texas

As amended, the Rules establish:

  • Beginning July 2028, the Texas Bar Exam will be the NextGen UBE. The minimum passing score will be determined by the Court. See Rules 1(a)(16) and 11(e)(3).
  • Texas will accept NextGen UBE transfers beginning immediately with a minimum score of 620. See Rule 13 ยง1.
  • An Applicant who fails a Texas Bar Exam may re-apply for the next Texas Bar Exam, without late fees, within 30 days after the Board delivers the Applicant's results from the immediately preceding Texas Bar Exam. See Rule 9(f).

The Court also amended Rules 22 and 23 regarding military servicemembers and their spouses.
