DeLauro, Krishnamoorthi Issue Statement on Empowering Trade Fraud Prevention Task Force

WASHINGTON -Today, US Representatives Rosa DeLauro, Ranking Member of the House Appropriations Committee and Raja Krishnamoorthi, Ranking Member of the Select Committee on the Strategic Competition between the United States and the Chinese Communist Party released the following joint statement celebrating passage of additional funding and directed authorities for the Trade Fraud Prevention Task Force:

"Trade crimes are not victimless-they cost American workers jobs, cheat manufacturers that play by the rules, and allow goods made with forced labor, including the exploitation of Uyghurs, to enter U.S. markets. For too long, the U.S. government has failed to enforce its trade laws to protect against these abuses. This funding helps right that historical wrong and ensures the Department of Justice has the resources to begin rigorously protecting American companies and workers from trade cheats. By pairing strong legislation with the appropriations which passed the House today, we are sending an unmistakable bipartisan signal that the U.S. will close enforcement gaps and hold trade cheaters accountable. American workers and communities deserve nothing less."
