Chinese Ambassador to India Xu Feihong Meets with Commerce Secretary of India

On September 1, 2026, Ambassador Xu Feihong met with Commerce Secretary of the Ministry of Commerce and Industry of India Mr. Rajesh Agrawal. The two sides exchanged views in depth on China-India economic and trade relations and other issues of mutual interest. Minister Guo Ce of the Chinese Embassy, Additional Secretary Darpan Jain of Trade Negotiation - Bilateral Division, Joint Secretary Kapil Chaudhary of Foreign Trade (North East Asia) Division attended the meeting.

 Ambassador Xu said that under the strategic guidance of the leaders of both countries, China-India relations have maintained a good momentum of improvement and development with the resumption of direct flights and border trade as well as increase of people to people exchanges. Economic and trade cooperation has been a highlight in the bilateral relationship. As major developing nations and important neighbors to each other, China and India share extensive common interests. The two sides should implement the important consensus reached by the two leaders with development as the greatest common denominator. The two sides should strengthen communication and coordinationat various levels and promote the sustained and healthy development of bilateral economic and trade cooperation.

 Commerce Secretary Agrawal said that as the most populous nations and major global economies, China and India have witnessed close economic and trade cooperation characterized by strong resilience and growth potential. The two sides should further deepen practical cooperation in eligible areas. India is willing to maintain communication with China at various levels and make active efforts to promote bilateral economic and trade ties.
