McDowell Leads Resolution Honoring the 2026 Stanley Cup Champion Carolina Hurricanes

WASHINGTON, D.C. - Today, Congressman Addison McDowell (NC-06) introduced a resolution congratulating the Carolina Hurricanes on winning the 2026 Stanley Cup and recognizing the players, coaches, and fans who brought the Cup back to North Carolina twenty years after the franchise's first championship. The Hurricanes defeated the Vegas Golden Knights in six games and finished the postseason with an impressive 16-3 record.

"Congratulations to the entire Hurricanes organization. It's incredible to see the Stanley Cup making its way around North Carolina again after twenty years," said Congressman McDowell. "You could feel the momentum building for years, and seeing this team finish the job and hoist the cup, bringing home another championship, is something Caniacs across our state will never forget."

Led by Head Coach Rod Brind'Amour, who captained the franchise during its first Stanley Cup championship in 2006, the Hurricanes claimed the second title in franchise history and one of the most dominant postseason records in recent NHL history. The resolution also recognizes the Hurricanes' commitment to serving communities across North Carolina through programs supporting children and families, service members, and first responders.

The resolution is cosponsored by members of the North Carolina delegation and formally congratulates the 2026 Stanley Cup Champion Carolina Hurricanes on an unforgettable season.
