Cooperman Barnabas Medical Center (CBMC), an RWJBarnabas Health hospital, is proud to announce the appointment of two distinguished professionals to its Board of Trustees: Matthew J. Leskowitz, MD, co-head of Biotechnology Investment Banking at Goldman Sachs and Elyssa Powell, Managing Director, Head of High Yield and Distressed Sales at RBC Capital Markets.

Their extensive expertise in healthcare, finance, and business leadership will further strengthen Cooperman Barnabas Medical Center's efforts to enhance our mission," states Bruce Schonbraun, Chair, Board of Trustees, CBMC.
Dr. Leskowitz brings a wealth of experience in healthcare and life sciences, particularly within the biotechnology and pharmaceutical sectors. He has led some of the most significant transactions in the life sciences space and helps biotechnology companies raise important capital to fund drug research, development, and commercialization. During his prior tenure at The Boston Consulting Group, he also advised many of the nation's largest healthcare systems. He brings a deep commitment to philanthropy, serving on the Board of Advisors of Life Science Cares and supporting Columbia University Children's Health as well as other local non-profits in New Jersey. Dr. Leskowitz is an active member of the CBMC Quality and Credential Review Committees.
Dr. Leskowitz received a medical degree from Columbia University Vagelos College of Physicians and Surgeons, where he graduated Alpha Omega Alpha. He earned a Bachelor of Arts in Biology and a Bachelor of Science in Economics, graduating Summa Cum Laude and Phi Beta Kappa, from The College of Arts and Sciences and The Wharton School at The University of Pennsylvania. He resides in Short Hills, New Jersey with his wife and three children.
Ms. Powell is a Managing Director at RBC Capital Markets where she runs the U.S. High Yield and Distressed Sales teams. In her current role, she co-leads a 40-person business with a $2 billion balance sheet and a $200 million profit and loss budget. With an extensive background in Leveraged Finance, Ms. Powell will use her expertise in managing complex financial strategies and optimizing client relationships to support CBMC's growth and development initiatives. She currently serves on several operating committees at RBC, including the Global Markets Operating Committee and the U.S. Sales Operating Committee, and brings a combined decade of experience from prior roles at Barclays and Goldman Sachs.
In addition to her professional success, Ms. Powell has been an active supporter of CBMC, serving on both the Development Committee and the Golf and Tennis Open Committee. She is also deeply involved in charitable work through organizations such as the Ronald McDonald House, the National Ovarian Cancer Coalition, and the Hatikvah Alliance.
Ms. Powell graduated Summa Cum Laude from Tulane University's Honors Program with a Bachelor of Science in Management in finance and a specialization in energy markets. She resides in Short Hills, New Jersey with her husband and three children.
