In light of the latest developments in the Middle East, the President of the Council of Ministers, Giorgia Meloni, chaired a conference call this morning, attended by Vice-President of the Council of Ministers and Minister of Foreign Affairs Antonio Tajani, Vice-President of the Council of Ministers Matteo Salvini, Minister of Defence Guido Crosetto, Undersecretaries of State Alfredo Mantovano and Giovanbattista Fazzolari, and the heads of the intelligence services.
During the call, the situation was comprehensively analysed, starting with the safety of Italian citizens in the Middle East.
The Government urges all compatriots to exercise maximum caution and to carefully follow the indications provided by the Italian Embassies in the region and by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation.
At this particularly difficult time, Italy reaffirms its solidarity with Iran's civilian population who courageously continue to demand that their civil and political rights be respected.
President Meloni will be in contact with the main allies and leaders in the region already over the coming hours in order to support any initiative that may lead to an easing of the tensions.
