Bryant Street Community Center Grand Opening Set: June 3

Published on May 26, 2026

The community is invited to celebrate the grand opening of the Bryant Street Community Center on Wednesday, June 3, 2026, at 4 p.m.

The facility is a long-awaited downtown gathering space and community resource, with a dedicated teen center and permanent downtown home for La Comida Senior Nutrition Program. The Bryant Street Community Center has been opening in phases serving the community starting mid-January 2026, including hosting limited recreation classes and serving as an overnight warming location during the colder months based on County-driven activation standards to support unhoused community members.

Community Center programming has continued to grow, with the City hosting a variety of programs, including one-on-one music classes for youth, group aerobics, and art classes. These activities reflect the City's goal of creating a flexible, inclusive space that supports connection, wellness, and creativity for residents of all ages.

The celebration will offer a snapshot of all the ways the Community Center will serve teens including expanded teen services programming to this downtown location. Teens that attend programming at the Mitchell Park teen center shared their visions for the new downtown space, what features they want to have on site, the configuration of furniture, and types of programming. The Teen Arts Council created a mural for the mirrors in the teen center, completing the project over two days in early May.

La Comida's permanent home downtown began on May 11 with their first inaugural senior lunch service at Bryant Community Center.

Join us to celebrate this new hub for connection and belonging.
