The completion of this $47 million investment is the latest addition to the work completed under the Roads to Prosperity Initiative, a widely popular program originally developed by Justice while serving as Governor of West Virginia
CHARLESTON, WV - Today, Senator Jim Justice and Charleston Mayor Frank Mullens released a statement following the news of a near-complete Roads to Prosperity project in South Charleston - including lane widening, a new efficient roundabout, and a 770-foot-long overpass crossing the Kanawha Turnpike:
"One of my marquee accomplishments as Governor was Roads to Prosperity, this example in South Charleston shows the product of good policy put into action. Really, projects like this are about getting back to the basics of what it means to serve: changing people's lives for the better. I made a promise when I first stepped foot into public office to bring as much goodness as I could to Toby and Edith across all of West Virginia - this is yet another example of keeping that promise. I'm proud of the work it took to get this done and can't wait to see more projects land on the completed side of the record book," said Senator Jim Justice.
"The Jefferson Road upgrade to a 5-lane highway here in South Charleston has been a home run - just a tremendous improvement to an area that's the highest traffic count in the State. I want to point out that this doesn't get done without the support of then Governor now Senator Jim Justice. Traffic flow will now be continuous and will improve the commute of all who travel through this area," said South Charleston Mayor Frank Mullens.
