LITTLE ROCK - The City of Little Rock has implemented its inclement weather policy for city employees for Friday, Jan. 10. City offices will be closed except for essential and emergency services such as the police and fire departments, public works and emergency communications.

City of Little Rock trash pickup and WM recycling pickup are canceled for Friday because of dangerous road conditions, and collections will resume when road conditions improve.

WM will place recycling dumpsters at the City's Green Station, 2000 S. Thayer St., next week, for residents to drop off recyclables. Recyclable materials may also be dropped off at the WM recycling center, 7900 Sloane Drive, at the Port of Little Rock.

The City of Little Rock's Public Works crews are working in 12-hour rotating shifts to clear snow and ice from the City's primary roads. Crews will treat nine snow routes first, then move to secondary roads and neighborhood streets. Motorists are asked to stay off the roads unless travel is absolutely necessary. Drivers should give crews and equipment plenty of space so that roads can be cleared safely and quickly.

Little Rock's 24-hour cold-weather emergency shelter remains open at the Dunbar Community Center, 1001 W. 16th St., for anyone who needs a warm, safe place to stay. Those who need transportation to the shelter are asked to contact local nonprofit The Van at (501) 955-3444.
