Starting 9/17/26: Night Work, Partial Ramp Closure Scheduled for Northbound US-101 in Central San Rafael

San Rafael, CA. - Caltrans is scheduled to begin work on a structural improvement project on Northbound US-101 at the Harbor Bridge in San Rafael. The project will require nightly lane closures and a partial ramp closure.

Work on this project includes the installation of steel shims beneath the bridge and the application of polyester concrete on the low side of the bridge to restore the roadway profile.

What to expect

Northbound lanes of US-101 will be closed nightly with at least one lane will be open for traffic:

  • Thursday, Sept. 17 through the morning of Sunday, Sept. 20 from 11 p.m. to 6 a.m
  • Monday, Sept. 21 through the morning of Tuesday, Sept. 22 from 11 p.m. to 6 a.m

The northbound US-101 off-ramp (Central San Rafael) will also be partially closed nightly with at least one lane open for traffic:

  • Thursday, Sept. 17 to Sunday, Sept. 20 from 11 p.m. to 6 a.m

The project is expected to last about one month depending on weather and other factors.
