As Expedia Group looks to the next 30 years, and travelers head outside in record numbers, the company is launching Expedia Trails Fund - a multi-year commitment to restore, protect, and future-proof the trails, parks, and coastlines that inspire millions of trips.
The Expedia Trails Fund will initially launch with projects at The Conservation Fund, The Nature Conservancy, and Trust for Public Land, supporting trail and park improvements that help restore the natural places travelers love. Through its first 11 projects and $4.3 million in grants, Expedia is improving safety and access at iconic U.S. destinations-from Okefenokee and Yellowstone's Paradise Valley to Hawai'i's Kealakekua Bay and natural areas near Seattle and Chicago-benefiting more than 1 million visits annually.
In addition, Expedia is partnering with AllTrails to match support for the 2026 AllTrails Stewards Fund, expanding community-led trail development and restoration around the world. Expedia and AllTrails will also partner to give AllTrails premium members access to discounts on Expedia.com lodging bookings. The company expects to add more partners and projects over time.

Why the Places We Love Need Our Help
As interest in outdoor travel has surged in recent years, so has the need to repair and restore the trails, trailheads, and access points that make these places possible to explore. New research shows that 86% of travelers took at least one national park or nature trip in the last 12 months, and 76% say environmental or social issues influenced their travel plans at least once over the past year. Sustainability isn't a niche concern anymore - it's becoming a routine part of trip planning, especially for younger travelers. Read more about this research here.1
Introducing the Expedia Trails Fund
The Expedia Trails Fund is a multi-year philanthropic fund. Our mission is to fund trail and park projects around the world to restore the natural places travelers love, while ensuring the conditions that make joyful experiences outdoors possible for more people. The fund will invest first in projects in the United States, focusing on supporting iconic parks, trails, and coasts that are under visible and urgent pressure. Over time, this work will expand globally, reaching more destinations and more communities.
Expedia Group's broader Global Impact strategy supports the people, places, and partners that shape responsible tourism, with a vision to advance protection of nature and culture while supporting resilient visitor economies that work for both residents and travelers alike. The Expedia Trails Fund is how that vision shows up on the ground - investing in the ecosystems and infrastructure that make meaningful travel possible in the first place.
What the Fund Supports
Through this fund Expedia is investing in:
Trail and nature restoration - repairing damaged paths and access points so visitors can explore safely and sustainably; removing invasive species, planting natives, and habitat restoration.
Responsible access and wayfinding - improving signage, visitor routes, and access points to spread use, reduce congestion, and protect sensitive areas.
Collectively, these projects are expected to:
Enhance safety and access for more than 1 million visits each year.
Help catalyze over $13 million in total conservation and access investment alongside additional public and philanthropic partners.

Looking Ahead: Travel That Protects What We Love
The future of travel depends on protecting the places that make it meaningful. That means investing in the trails, parks, and natural spaces that shape how people experience the world- while growing the local economies and communities that depend on them. This is just the beginning of a multi-year effort to help care for the places travelers love, so they remain meaningful to explore for years to come. Through the Expedia Trails Fund, we will help travelers explore the world, one journey at a time.
