The University of New Mexico will host its annual Springtime International Festival Thursday, April 16, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Cornell Mall outside the Student Union Building on the Albuquerque campus.
The event, organized by UNM's Global Education Office, has celebrated the university's cultural diversity since the 1990s, showcasing traditions, performances and cuisine from around the world.
More than 30 countries will be represented, with international students sharing their cultures through food, music and dance. This year's festival will feature dishes prepared by students from Nepal, Colombia, Japan and India.
Additional food options will be available from local vendors, including Sanchez Tacos, Bing Tea, Doner Kebab and La Michoacana Sanchez.
Live performances will take place from noon to 1 p.m., featuring student groups representing India, China and Georgia. The event will also include an interactive bachata lesson, highlighting the Dominican Republic's signature style of music and dance.
The festival is free and open to the public.
