Service on a city committee is a good way to get involved in Monona. There are openings for citizen members on the committees below. Interested residents should complete the citizen committee application here or call (608) 222-2525 for a paper application.
Applications submitted for appointment to any of these committees in the past three years will be automatically considered. If you have any concerns about how to use Parliamentary Procedure or other questions, please don't let them deter you. We're happy to help.
Board of Review - The Board of Review is a statutorily required quasi-judicial body which hears property assessment appeals at an annual hearing. Applicants should have a background in property appraisal or assessment, construction, realty, or the law.
Landmarks Commission - The Landmarks Commission works to advance historic preservation in Monona. Those with backgrounds or an interest in architecture, history, architectural history, planning, archaeology, or other preservation-related disciplines are encouraged to apply.
Community Media Committee - The Community Media Committee oversees the operation of the city's cable and YouTube channels as well as the city's low-power FM radio station, 98.7 WVMO - The Voice of Monona. Residents, including high school students, with experience or interest in media including radio and TV are encouraged to apply.
