Trump Administration Delivers Nearly $2 Million Through FEMA to Help Communities Recover from Recent Disasters and Strengthen Their Resilience Against Future Disasters in Idaho

BOTHELL, Wash. - Today, FEMA announced the approval of nearly $2 million in post-disaster funding for Public Assistance and Hazard Mitigation Grant Program projects in Idaho. These programs empower states, local communities, tribes and territories to recover from disasters, to rebuild more resilient, safer communities and to protect infrastructure from future events. With this funding, President Donald J. Trump is keeping his promise to reform federal disaster support and ensure that taxpayer money is spent only on projects that deliver safety and security to the American people.

The funding approved today includes more than $704,000 under FEMA's Public Assistance program.

FEMA disburses this money to states, tribes and local communities, because they are best positioned to know how these funds will be most effectively spent. The funded projects include costs related to the management of Public Assistance grants and reimbursement for costs incurred to ensure public health and safety after a disaster.

Projects reimbursed through Public Assistance funding approved today include:

• More than $348,000 to Idaho County to fund costs related to the management of Public Assistance grants as a result of the April 2024 severe storms, flooding, landslides and mudslides
• More than $249,000 to the Idaho Office of Emergency Management to fund costs related to the management of Public Assistance grants as a result of the March 2026 severe storms, straight-line winds, flooding, landslides and mudslides.
• More than $106,000 to the Lake Highway District fund debris removal operations as a result of the December 2024 straight line winds.

FEMA is also awarding more than $1.2 million for projects that will prevent, eliminate or reduce future disaster-related damage. This money is being distributed through FEMA's Hazard Mitigation Grant Program. Through this program, state, local or territorial governments and Tribal Nations take proactive mitigation measures such as acquiring hazard-prone homes and businesses, adopting and enforcing building codes and standards, protecting against floods through elevations and drainage improvement projects, building safe rooms and upgrading utilities and infrastructure.

Projects reimbursed through Hazard Mitigation Grant Program funding approved today include:

• More than $973,000 to Northern Lights, Inc. for utility undergrounding in Bonner County to reduce the risk of wildfires and power outages caused by other natural hazards, such as straight-line winds.
• More than $254,000 to the Idaho Office of Emergency Management to fund management costs for response efforts for the 2024 Texas Fire.

FEMA coordinates directly with the state on all hazard mitigation projects. This aligns with FEMA's principles of ensuring that disaster recovery and mitigation is state-led and federally supported.

These projects are the latest examples of billions of dollars in disaster recovery provided by FEMA to support state, tribal and local communities as they work to rebuild from recent natural disasters.

FEMA continues its renewed commitment to help communities recover from disasters like hurricanes, severe storms, tornadoes and wildfires while making them more resilient to future disasters.
