All Marquette University classes are canceled Tuesday, January 21, 2025, due to severe weather conditions in the greater Milwaukee area. All classes are canceled regardless of modality - in-person, synchronous and asynchronous online.
Assignments due are delayed, and instructors are expected to communicate with students regarding their expectations for missed or delayed assignments and to clarify any changes in class schedule due to the cancelation. Instructors should see the policy for Severe Weather - Instructor Responsibilities when Classes are Canceled for further guidance.
The university is operational with limited on-campus services. The following areas will remain open, although hours may be reduced:
Employees who are able to work remotely should do so with supervisor approval. If an employee is unable to work remotely, they should contact their supervisor and take vacation time. Only those employees required to remain/come to campus during a weather-related disruption should be on campus, and those who are non-exempt (paid by the hour) will be paid for their hours worked plus a premium rate unless otherwise indicated in a collective bargaining agreement. If an employee is unsure if they are required to be on campus when classes are canceled, they should contact their supervisor.
The payroll department will provide guidance, via email, to supervisors for timesheet entry when classes are canceled and there is an operational disruption.
In general, when classes are canceled due to severe weather, most campus events and all student-organized events will be canceled. See detailed event protocol, including requesting an exception.
For more information, view the university's severe weather policies.
