DOTI Weekend Travel Advisory

DOTI Weekend Travel Advisory

Published on October 01, 2026

DENVER - Denver's Department of Transportation and Infrastructure (DOTI) would like the public to be aware of upcoming infrastructure improvements that could temporarily impact travel this weekend.

Full closure of Speer Boulevard Tunnel for Systems Maintenance

A contractor for DOTI will be closing Speer Boulevard southbound near Acoma Street to work on heat detection systems in the Speer Boulevard tunnel. Drivers will detour to Broadway, where they can get on 6th Avenue eastbound and back onto Speer. See attached map. The closure will be during work hours on Saturday, October 3, and Sunday, October 4, from 5 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. and the stretch will reopen after work hours.

Saturday Lane Striping on Broadway, 13th to 16th Avenue

This Saturday, October 3, from approximately 6 a.m. to 3 p.m., a DOTI crew will be restriping the travel lanes on Broadway from 13th Avenue to 16th Avenue following completed paving operations. Travel lanes will be open to traffic flow as the long lines are painted; crosswalks will be implemented by closing two travel lanes at a time, letting traffic actively flow along the other side of the street as each intersection is completed. Drivers crossing Broadway at Colfax, 14th and 13th avenues may encounter minimal disruptions as bike lane and other markings are replaced following the paving work.

Franklin Street Closure South of Evans Avenue

Starting Monday, October 5, and lasting for up to three weeks, DOTI will close the south side of Franklin Street at East Evans Avenue to make infrastructure upgrades as part of the Evans Avenue Intersection & Signal Improvements project. The purpose of the project is to improve traffic flow and pedestrian safety at the South Logan, South Pearl, and South Franklin street intersections on East Evans Avenue. Work includes replacing sidewalks, curb ramps and traffic signals; installing new storm drainage inlets; adding pedestrian push buttons; and making other safety and accessibility improvements. Graphic attached.

This closure is the first of four that will take place at the Franklin Street and Pearl Street intersections over the course of October and November. Only one closure will be in place at a time. No full road closures are expected at the Logan Street intersection. We appreciate the public's patience as we work to improve the corridor. The public can contact the project's public information team at [email protected] to sign up for construction updates.
