On the sidelines of the 61st session of the United Nations Human Rights Council in Geneva, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Varsen Aghabekian Shahin met with Tanja Fajon, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign and European Affairs of the Republic of Slovenia, in the presence of Ambassador Ibrahim Khraisheh, Permanent Observer of the State of Palestine to the United Nations in Geneva.
The Minister expressed her appreciation for Slovenia's principled positions in support of the rights of the Palestinian people and its continued backing of UNRWA. She stressed the importance of sustained international pressure to consolidate the ceasefire in Gaza, ensure the unhindered entry of humanitarian assistance, and bring an end to impunity.
She also warned of the grave situation in the West Bank and Jerusalem amid escalating settler violence and annexation plans, called for the release of withheld Palestinian clearance revenues, and reaffirmed that the two-State solution remains the only viable path toward achieving a just and comprehensive peace. The two sides discussed ongoing efforts to enhance security and stability in the region and underscored the depth of the historic relations between the two countries, reaffirming their commitment to further strengthening bilateral cooperation across various fields.
