WHEREAS, 2025 marks Fargo's 48th year as a Tree City USA; and
WHEREAS, The 2025 Arbor Day celebration in the City of Fargo will be held on Wednesday, May 21st at 9:00 a.m. at Village West Dog Park and Fish Eye Park at 4415 9th Avenue South; and
WHEREAS, Trees and shrubs are a valuable resource in Fargo, protecting the soil, conserving moisture and energy, beautifying homes and making Fargo a more inviting place to live and visit; and
WHEREAS, Vigorously growing trees and shrubs produce life sustaining oxygen, slow down forceful winds, break the monotony of endless sidewalks and miles of highways, soften the outline of the masonry, metal and glass cityscape and increase the value of property; and
WHEREAS, Disease and insects have damaged and threatened our trees, creating the need for the continuation of tree planting programs throughout the City; and
WHEREAS, On Arbor Day the citizens of Fargo commit themselves to the continued health of our City's inventory of trees.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that I, Dr. Timothy J. Mahoney, Mayor of the City of Fargo, North Dakota, do hereby proclaim May 21, 2025 to be
ARBOR DAY
in the City of Fargo and urge all citizens to become more aware of the importance of our urban trees to the well-being of our City, and to demonstrate their concern for future generations by participating in tree planting programs.
