Your City at Work: From the Mayor's Desk

Read below to learn more about initiatives my administration is working on, resources for Stamford residents, information about upcoming events, and important city and state information.

MAYOR'S UPDATES

  • Joint Cabinet Meeting: This week, my cabinet joined Superintendent Dr. Adrian Talley's cabinet to discuss our shared priorities for Stamford Public Schools. We discussed kindergarten readiness, workforce development programs, pursuing increased state education funding, and advancing our school construction program. I'm thankful for Dr. Talley and his team's partnership as we continue working together to ensure every Stamford student has the resources they need to succeed.
  • 2026 Veterans Day Parade: Join us for the 2026 Veterans Day Parade this Sunday, November 8th. The parade kickoff at 12:00 pm at Stamford Police HQ (725 Bedford Street) and continue down to Veterans Memorial Day Parade (130 Atlantic Street), with the ceremony at 1:00 pm to follow. For more information see the flyer below.
  • Leaf Pickup: It's that time of year and the City of Stamford is ready. Leaf pickup will begin next week on November 12th in the North Zone (North of the Merritt), followed by the Middle Zone (between the Merritt and I-95) on November 23, and the South Zone (South of I95) on December 7. Residents are reminded that loose piles of leaves or bagged leaves must be placed behind the curb of their property and not on the road or sidewalks. Piles of leaves and bags not in compliance will not be picked up, and residents could face fines.
  • ICYMI - MOMS Organic Market Opening in the South End: I am thrilled to welcome the first MOM's Organic Market in Connecticut in the South End. In addition to MOM's, this space will be home to Club Studio, Primrose Schools, Chipotle, and Jersey Mikes. We are excited to see the revitalization of this space and look forward to attracting additional tenants that will expand retail options for residents. Thank you to the V20 Group for their partnership and commitment to bringing a new grocery retailer to Stamford.
  • School Construction Updates: On October 29, about 30 Westhill High School juniors and seniors from Environmental Science classes got an inside look at sustainable school design. The session was organized by the City's School Construction Program with Science Department Head Carley Grant. Engineers from Consulting Engineering Services (CES) explained the basics of geothermal energy, and architects, engineers, and construction professionals, including two Westhill graduates, talked about sustainable design, solving problems on construction sites, teamwork, and careers in the field. Students also asked questions and connected their classroom learning to projects underway in their own community.

For the latest updates from Westhill and other construction sites, check out the latest issue of Building Excellence, now available, highlighting major progress at Westhill High School, as well as a Q&A with one of our construction managers, Danile DeBoo.
