Charges filed in April fatal crash on North Academy Boulevard

As a result of the Colorado Springs Police Department's (CSPD) ongoing investigation into the fatal traffic crash on April 22, 2026, at the intersection of North Academy Boulevard and Lehman Drive, a teenage juvenile male has been charged with the death of a teenage juvenile, and the serious injuries of another teenage juvenile, and an adult female.

On May 20, 2026, CSPD obtained an arrest warrant for a teenage juvenile, charging him with the fatality, as well as reckless endangerment. The teenager turned himself in later that day.

At this point in our investigation, it's estimated that the driver was going between 25 and 39 mph over the speed limit, failed to stop for a traffic control device, and violated restrictions associated with a minor driver's license.

This remains an ongoing investigation. Anyone with any information that could assist in this investigation is asked to contact CSPD at 719-444-7000, or you can remain anonymous by calling Crime Stoppers at 719-634-STOP (7867).
