APPLICATIONS ENCOURAGED FOR VACANCY ON DENVER BOARD OF ETHICS
There will be one vacancy on the Denver Board of Ethics effective July 31, 2026. This seat must be filled by an employee of the City and County of Denver.
If you are interested in service on the Board of Ethics, you may apply by submitting your resume and a cover letter to [email protected].
Please be sure to submit your application prior to close of business on Friday, August 7, 2026.
This is an unpaid volunteer position. The Board of Ethics Nomination Committee will conduct interviews of selected candidates and will certify a list of at least three (3) nominees to the Mayor and to the City Council, who will jointly appoint one person.
The Denver Board of Ethics, established by Denver ordinance and the City Charter, is an independent five-person board governed by the City Charter, the Denver Code of Ethics, and its own Rules of Procedure. The mission of the Board of Ethics is to encourage and guide city officers, officials and employees to adhere to high levels of ethical conduct so that the public will have confidence that persons in positions of public responsibility are acting for the benefit of the public.
The Board of Ethics normally meets once per month. Each Board member must be willing to dedicate themselves and the necessary professional time to:
Reviewing written case materials before each meeting;
Giving official advisory opinions to city employees, elected officers and board and commission members about ethical issues that arise and are presented to the Board;
Reviewing, investigating and, if necessary, conducting hearings on complaints alleging violations of the Code of Ethics; and
Providing guidance to the executive director of the Board of Ethics on issues pertaining to the operation of the Board, the Code of Ethics and the promotion of ethics education and training to city employees and officials.
