OLLI at MSU to host March 13 forum on AI use in education

BOZEMAN - The  Osher Lifelong Learning Institute  at Montana State University will host its monthly Friday Forum on March 13, titled "AI in Education: Friend or Foe?" The event will take place from noon to 1:30 p.m. on Zoom and is free and open to the public.

In an era of emerging artificial intelligence, it is important to examine how children and adults are learning with AI and using it in everyday life, including social media, research, internet communication and online shopping, event organizers note. The forum will feature two panelists who work in education andwill speak to AI use, management, implications and influences both in higher education and grades K-12.

During the forum, Jason Clark, professor and head of research optimization, analytics and data services at the MSU Library, will give an overview of AI and address its opportunities and challenges in higher education and research. Alex Ide, curriculum and multi-tiered system of supports integration specialist for Bozeman School District 7, will discuss how the district and its teachers implement, manage and address AI.

Registration for the Friday Forum must be completed at https://www.montana.edu/olli/friday/ or on Zoom before 11 a.m. March 13. Upon registration confirmation, participants will receive an email with the Zoom link and instructions on how to join the forum.
