This week, the Colorado Department of Agriculture is celebrating Public Service Recognition Week (PSRW)-a time dedicated to honoring the commitment, expertise, and service of CDA's more than 300 person staff. Across nine divisions and the Commissioner's Office, the CDA team helps support our state's vital agriculture sector, helping ensure its safety, sustainability, and economic success.
"Every single division - from the field to the lab, and from policy to public engagement - contributes to the strength and resilience of Colorado agriculture," said Commissioner of Agriculture Kate Greenberg. "We're grateful for our employees who chose public service as their career and for the integrity and passion they bring to the CDA mission every day."
The work of CDA staff touches every aspect of Colorado's food supply, and public service is the key mission carried out across all of CDA's nine divisions.
Our Animal Health and Animal Welfare teams safeguard the well-being of livestock and pets across the state, while protecting producers, pet owners, and consumers.
The Brands division provides crucial property protection and legal certainty for ranchers and livestock owners.
The Plant Industry and Labs divisions are on the front lines of defense against pests, diseases, food pathogens, and pesticide misuse, ensuring the quality of crops and protecting our natural resources.
The Conservation Services division incentivizes regenerative ag practices and supports our landscapes through unique biological control methods, securing the future of farming in a changing climate.
The Markets division actively works to expand local, regional and international opportunities for Colorado products, helping our producers, families and businesses thrive while also helping develop the next generation of agriculturalists.
The Inspection and Consumer Services division maintains fair commerce through accurate measurements and inspections, from scales to food product safety, upholding public trust. It also connects ag workers to resources and educates ag employers on farm laws and regulations.
The State Fair division showcases the best of Colorado's agriculture and heritage, connecting urban and rural communities and inspiring and preparing the next generation of ag leaders.
Finally, the Commissioner's Office staff works with all divisions and programs to effectively and efficiently deliver services to Coloradans, from developing policies and defining key agency priorities to connecting with the ag community and the public to ensure communication and collaboration.
From maintaining the integrity of our marketplaces to pioneering stewardship practices, the collective efforts of CDA's dedicated staff ensure the safety, prosperity, and vitality of Colorado's agriculture industry and food supply every day.
