The City of Syracuse is hosting a career fair on Thursday, February 26, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at CNY Works, 960 James Street, Syracuse, NY 13203. Representatives from the Office of Human Resources and participating City departments will be present to review resumes and answer questions about the City's hiring process. Applications will be available on-site for the more than 50 positions currently open throughout the City's departments, offices, and divisions.
"Investing in our City means investing in the workforce that serves it," said Mayor Sharon F. Owens. "From human resource specialists and mechanics to drivers, engineers, and tree trimmers, we have jobs for all who are passionate about serving the community they live in. If you or someone you know is interested in working for Syracuse, come to the career fair and learn how to join our team of dedicated civil servants."
Following Mayor Owens' call for CDL drivers at the 2026 State of the City, the Office of Human Resources and Departments of Public Works and Water are placing an emphasis on recruiting and hiring for positions that require employees to be in possession of a valid Commercial Driver's License. These positions include, but are not limited to:
Water Maintenance Worker I & II, Department of Water
Sewer Maintenance Worker I, Department of Water
Motor Equipment Operator I & II, Department of Public Works
Tire Service Mechanic, Department of Public Works
Maintenance Worker I, Department of Public Works
"Our CDL drivers are the foundation of city services," said 1st Deputy Commissioner of Public Works Ann Fordock. "We would not be able to keep this City running without them and are always looking for more CDL drivers to join our crews."
Attendees should bring printed copies of their resume and wear professional attire. To view and apply for all current job openings at the City of Syracuse, visit syr.gov/jobs.
