Lt. Governor Burt Jones Prioritizes Accountability and Transparency

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: Wednesday, February 4, 2026

ATLANTA |Today, Lt. Governor Burt Jones issued a statement supporting the ongoing work of the Georgia Senate Special Committee on Investigations. Lt. Governor Jones highlighted the Committee's issuance of subpoenas to Nathan Wade and Jeff DiSantis to further investigate the misuse of taxpayer dollars by the Fulton County District Attorney's Office.

"The Senate will continue to prioritize accountability and transparency for Fulton County taxpayers," said Lt. Governor Burt Jones. "DA Willis's evasive testimony in December left the committee with more questions than answers, especially in light of contradictory statements others, including Nathan Wade, had previously made. The committee plans to hear testimony from Mr. Wade and Jeff DiSantis that will hopefully shed more light on DA Willis's abuse of her office. This committee will continue to seek accountability and transparency for millions of dollars wasted at the expense of Fulton County taxpayers."

"After Fani Willis' unhinged testimony, the need for accountability is clearer than ever," said Senator Greg Dolezal (R- Cumming). "We will continue investigating the misuse of taxpayer dollars and the politically driven prosecution of President Trump and other Republicans. Georgians deserve answers, accountability, and confidence the justice system will never again be used as a political weapon."

Senate Resolution 465established the Senate Special Committee on Investigations in 2024. Lt. Governor Burt Jones appointed the committee members who are tasked with addressing concerns about prosecutorial misconduct in the Fulton County District Attorney's Office.
