Sunday Night Lane Closures on I-85 NB in Fulton, DeKalb as Resurfacing Project Begins
Expect Traffic Delays, Plan Alternate Routes
METRO ATLANTA - The Georgia Department of Transportation (GDOT) contractors install weekend lane closures on Interstate 85 (I-85) to continue a resurfacing project on 16 miles from the I-75/I-85 Brookwood Interchange in Fulton County to SR 140 in Gwinnett County. This $42 million resurfacing project will produce a smoother ride for drivers while also improving the condition of the deteriorating roadway.

Weather and on-site conditions permitting, crews will close one left lane and the left shoulder lane on I-85 southbound between Clairmont Road (exit 91) and Cheshire Bridge Road (exit 88) on Sunday, April 19, from 9 p.m. until 5 a.m. on Monday.

On-site message boards and traffic control measures will alert drivers approaching the area. Lane closures help ensure safety for workers and drivers the project area as crews continue milling, inlay and resurfacing to improve the deteriorating roadway.

Motorists are advised to expect delays, exercise caution, and reduce their speed while traveling through the work zone during the project work hours. Before heading out, get real-time information on work status and traffic conditions. Call 511, visit 511ga.org, or download the Georgia 511 app.
